WaveMaker Spotlight: Alyssa Pechstein

Meet WaveMaker #2 Here: Lynden Ludwig👆

WaveMaker Spotlight celebrates girls who are making waves in and out of the water.

Alyssa Pechstein is a 12-year old diver from Aliso Viejo, California, who's proving what can happen when passion, perseverance, and a love for the water come together. In diving, making the smallest splash is actually the goal, and although Alyssa leaves behind barely a ripple, she's very much a WaveMaker.

Alyssa started diving when she was just 8 years old, and in the past year, she has captured national championship titles in both USA Diving and AAU competitions, along with multiple medal-winning performances on the international stage.

But what inspires us most about Alyssa isn't just her medal collection - it's the confidence behind it.

At the age of 9, a painful diving accident left Alyssa afraid to attempt a reverse dive again. Instead of giving up, she made it her goal to face that fear this year, and now it's one of her favorite dives.

When she's not diving, you'll usually find Alyssa at the beach or boating at Lake Havasu. As she puts it, she loves pretty much anything that involves being in the water, and her favorite NextWave swimsuit is the True Tide One Piece in Coral Rush.

Alyssa's advice for tween girls:

"Never give up. All you can do is your best every day and good things will happen!"

Know a girl who's making waves?

We're always looking to celebrate girls who are doing amazing things in and out of the water, whether that's doing something amazing in their sport or inspiring others.

Know someone we should feature? We'd love to hear her story. Email us at hello@nextwaveswim.com to nominate her for a future WaveMaker Spotlight.
